Some of Useful Fish Oils

Actually there are several kinds of fish oils which are believed useful and have benefit to human health, but according to the research, there are 3 kinds of fish oil which are proven bringing benefits to human health.

1). Cod liver oil / halibut oil
It is fish oil that is extracted from liver and or fat of cod and halibut fishes. The oil contains vitamin A, D, and triglyceride. Both vitamins are known as a drug to repair and to perfect bones and skin development. They are also used as a drug to prevent and cure xerophthalmia and blindness.

2. Omega 3
It is a popular name of fish oil contains a mixture of Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) dan Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It is extracted from fat tissue of Mackerel fish, as well as Herring, Sardine, Salem, Lemuru, etc. All of those fishes live in water surface. Omega 3 is claimed having benefit to decrease cholesterol, lessen high blood pressure, and prevent against coronary thrombosis and arteriosclerosis. Omega 3 is widely known in USA and Britain. However, in 1989, a team led by Dr. G.J. Reis and a team with Dr. R.A. Riemersma in charge reported that omega 3 has lower benefits compare with olive oil. It is because olive oil contains active substance of squalene.

3. Squalene
It is fish oil extracted from dogfish (aizame, spiny dogfish) with the so many benefits as explained before in previous articles on this blog.
